Stars 4 Smiles is a community service project of The Celebrity Source that will bring celebrities from film, TV, music and sports, to Southern California children’s hospitals and other pediatric medical facilities. The purpose is simple: to bring smiles to children who are suffering serious illness or other medical trauma.
Rita Tateel, President of The Celebrity Source, created Stars 4 Smiles after 18 years of coordinating celebrity visits to Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach, as part of the activities surrounding the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, Pro/Celebrity Race. The impact on the children, parents, hospital staff and even the celebrities themselves has been profound, which is why The Celebrity Source is expanding this program to include three additional children’s hospital/pediatric facilities throughout the year.
The inaugural Stars 4 Smiles event will benefit Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, CA and have two primary sponsors: Spin Master toys, which is donating toys and games that the celebrities will deliver to the children; and Toyota, which in addition to a financial support, is providing Sienna vans to transport the celebrities to the hospital.
Watch the video to see a glimpse of how celebrity participants have been impacted by the Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach (“Racing For Kids”) visits in the past.
